Doug Strand grew up in Southeast Missouri and then moved to central Illinois with his family after High School. He worked in the fencing and landscaping industry for several years before starting his own landscaping business and then later moving the business to Madison, Wisconsin.

In 1983, Doug enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a M1 Abrams Tank Mechanic. Doug wrapped up his active duty commitment as a Battalion recovery section Sergeant in 1987, and stayed active with the Illinois, Wisconsin, and Washington National Guard as a platoon Sergeant until his honorable discharge in 1995.

Doug completed his Bachelors degree in Industrial Technology, General Manufacturing from Illinois State University in 1990. He minored in Speech Communication. After graduating, he began work as an E.M.D.P. with Oscar Mayer Foods on the following Monday.

Oscar Mayer’s select Engineering Management Development Program gave a base of experiences to build from in processing, construction, projects, maintenance and engineering.

Over the past thirty years since graduation, Doug has gained experience with Oscar Mayer, Sara Lee, Texas American Foodservice, Indiana Packers, McCain Foods, Lopez Foods and AFA Foods. These experiences have been an essential part of the training and experiences needed to found and operate Strand Management and Consulting Services.

Doug is a patriot, a family man and a strong proponent of working hard to achieve the American Dream. He and his wife Sheryl reside in Fort Worth, Texas with the youngest of their three children. Their oldest daughter married in 2008 and recently graduated with a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology. Their middle son is a Sergeant in the Army serving as a Sniper with the 25th Airborne Infantry Division in Afghanistan. Their youngest son is an active student in High School. As a family, they enjoy boating, skiing, football, music, horses, golf, and other family based activities.

In October of 2007, Doug received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the Industrial Technology Department of the College of Applied Science and Technology from Illinois State University.

Doug’s goal is to grow this service based company in an effort to provide companies with the skills they need to progress. He finds it extremely rewarding to work with professionals in the food manufacturing industry, and hopes that you will call today to find out more about the services available.
